We have always had close ties with the shepherds and hunters in our region. We are committed to utilising hides and processing them to the highest standard for our customers. You can choose from a range of tanning methods, and we process every hide with the utmost care. <\/p>\n

White tanning<\/strong> is one of the oldest tanning methods and has been used for centuries. Originally, aluminium salts \u2013 such as those found in nature \u2013 were used for this purpose. This method preserves the natural character of the wool and ensures a pleasantly soft leather surface. <\/p>\n

Nowadays, synthetically produced tannins that are similar to those used in vegetable tanning are used for this process. The only by-products produced are common household waste materials. Medical tanning<\/strong> is a tanning process derived from chamois tanning (tanning with fish oils). It involves the use of a natural organic tanning agent with specific properties. This binds completely to the leather and gives the wool and the leather side a slightly yellowish tint. <\/p>\n

Our hides are free from harmful substances, and the only waste produced is ordinary household waste. Vegetable tanning<\/strong> (also known as red tanning) is one of the oldest and most natural tanning methods. It involves the use of extracts (tannins) from plants such as bark, fruit, leaves, roots or wood. These \u2018vegetable\u2019 tanning agents are worked into the hide using a gentle process. This results in a characteristic brownish to beige colouring of the wool and the leather side. <\/p>\n

We use chestnut extracts of European origin in the production of our lambskins.
